It’s not an exaggeration to say that writing these campaigns were a dream come true! As a 90’s kid, Lisa Frank was the queen bee and I was a dedicated stationary fan all through school. As nostalgic as I feel about Lisa Frank, the challenge with writing these campaigns is that the Lisa Frank team wanted to stay away from nostalgia messaging and position themselves as a current brand that still makes really cool stuff. It was a fun exercise tapping into my whimsical side to write copy that brought the same excitement and vibrancy as the artwork. The campaigns below cover a Spring and Fall drop, and I was oh so lucky to write for both product launches.

The Crocs Lightning McQueen clog is one of Crocs best-selling licensed products in history, and following its success fans had been demanding a Mater clog as well. It was essential to play into the hype of this style and acknowledge the fan service of creating this highly requested style to show shoppers that their brand input is valued. Fans love Mater for his silly personality and I wanted to reflect his unique spirit and voice throughout the campaign copy.

I’ve been a massive fan of J. Cole for over a decade and one of my most memorable concert experiences was watching him play Red Rocks. I begged to be put on this project because I was genuinely stoked about this collection. The Dreamville team created a collegiate-inspired silhouette with texturing to resemble a letterman jacket and unique pennant Jibbitz™ charms. I used that classic collegiate styling to inspire my copy, while propping up the hype behind the campaign worthy of one of hip hop’s best.

The Chewbacca Classic Clog was an exciting project to work on because Star Wars is such a beloved franchise. Crocs has many Star Wars licensed products, but this drop was unique because they wanted to lean into nostalgia of the original trilogy and speak to the original fans of the franchise. I incorporated notable movie quotes and phrases, like Fuzzball, that would resonate with passionate Chewbacca fans to encourage a sentimental reaction to the collection.
